What is a domain name?
A domain name is similar to a phone
number. It is a unique identification label that defines autonomy,
authority, and control on the Internet. Domain names identify
Internet Protocol (IP) associated with the location of the website on
the Internet. Domain names are formed based on the rules and procedures
of the Domain Name System (DNS).
Will I need to purchase a domain name?
No. Domain purchasing, configuration, and renewal are all handled by
The Web Spinner for you. Although we will control and pay for a domain
name, ownership of the domain name will remain with the respective
client. In addition, The Web Spinner will help you select a domain name
that is best for your business. If, however, you would like to
purchase your domain name, you certainly may. Go to
Domain Name Registration.
What is website hosting?
To make a website visible to the world, it must be
hosted on a web server (a computer), which provides disk space where
the website files will be stored. A website's domain name is set up to
point the domain name to the web server when requested by a web browser.
Will I need to purchase website hosting as website design client?
No. Hosting is provided by The Web Spinner at
competitive pricing. See our
Hosting Plans.
Will I have to sign an agreement?
Yes. Our contract is a written and signed mutual
agreement for web design and any other products or services you need.
However, the contract is for the initial design and website
implementation. Once the initial work is complete and paid for, you have
no long term obligation to continue using The Web Spinner's services.
Can I see an example of my website before entering into any
agreement?
Yes. See our Web Design
Process.
What is a website template?
A website template is a type of "form", from which a
website can be created, providing consistency in visual appearance and
formatting throughout the website pages. Website templates can be
used to set up any type of website. Web designers start with a
template, from which they create the pages required by the website.
Some web designers purchase "off the
shelf" templates from the internet to create their clients
website. This means that anyone else buying the same
template will have a website which is very similar in
appearance and it may not well represent the personality of
the business for which the website is being created. The Web Spinner does not
purchase
website templates. We create custom templates which reflect
the unique branding of our client's business.
